Accepted name: |
neoxanthin synthase |
Reaction: |
violaxanthin = neoxanthin |

Other name(s): |
NSY |
Systematic name: |
violaxanthin—neoxanthin isomerase (epoxide-opening) |
Comments: |
The opening of the epoxide ring of violaxanthin generates a chiral allene. Neoxanthin is a precursor of the plant hormone abscisic acid and the last product of carotenoid synthesis in green plants [2]. |
