Accepted name: |
diglucosylglycerate octanoyltransferase |
Reaction: |
octanoyl-CoA + 2-O-[α-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-α-D-glucopyranosyl]-D-glycerate = CoA + 2-O-[6-O-octanoyl-α-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-α-D-glucopyranosyl]-D-glycerate |
Other name(s): |
octT (gene name); DGG octanoyltransferase |
Systematic name: |
octanoyl-CoA:2-O-[α-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-α-D-glucopyranosyl]-D-glycerate octanoyltransferase |
Comments: |
The enzyme, characterized from mycobacteria, is involved in the biosynthesis of methylglucose lipopolysaccharide (MGLP). The enzyme can also act on 2-O-(α-D-glucopyranosyl)-D-glycerate, but with lower activity. |
