Accepted name: |
ABC-type thiamine transporter |
Reaction: |
ATP + H2O + thiamine-[thiamine-binding protein][side 1] = ADP + phosphate + thiamine[side 2] + [thiamine-binding protein][side 1] |
Other name(s): |
thiamin transporting ATPase; thiamine ABC transporter; thiamin ABC transporter; thiamine transporting ATPase; thiBPQ (gene names) |
Systematic name: |
ATP phosphohydrolase (ABC-type, thiamine-importing) |
Comments: |
ATP-binding cassette (ABC) type transporter, characterized by the presence of two similar ATP-binding domains/proteins and two integral membrane domains/proteins. The enzyme, characterized from the bacterium Salmonella typhimurium, is a heterodimeric complex that interacts with an extracytoplasmic substrate binding protein and functions to import thiamine, thiamine monophosphate and thiamine diphosphate. |
